A closing reception for Creators: new paintings by Sharon Bond Brown will be held on Friday, December 4 from 6 - 9 p.m.

This exhibition is the first installment in a series of works that at once is an homage to Sharon's peers, a comment on the tradition of portraiture and a tour de force of black and white oil painting.

This exhibition is a MUST SEE.

Home is Where the Art is

November 12, 2009 — Mayor John Hickenlooper celebrated the growing number of Denver’s homeowners, small business owners and developers who have made design excellence a priority in their community. “Great cities are just as enriched by many small and beautiful design interventions as they are by large and bold civic gestures,” said Mayor Hickenlooper.

“No matter how large or small the project, design matters. We all benefit when owners go the extra mile to invest time, money and creativity into their property, creating a culture of quality design and encouraging others to follow suit. These honorees are diverse examples of how attention to design details makes Denver a special place to live, work and play,” said Mayor Hickenlooper.

“The Mayor’s Design Awards recognizes and encourages well designed small projects throughout our neighborhoods,” said Denver Planning Manager Peter J. Park, AICP. “Good design happens on its own when enlightened owners recognize the benefit and invest in quality design. Their design efforts make our city interesting, provocative and memorable.”
Co-sponsoring the 2009 Mayor’s Design Awards were: AIA Denver, a chapter of the American Institute of Architects, Colfax Events Center, 5280 Urban Homes, Steuben’s, Pasquini’s, Whole Foods and the Denver Community Planning and Development Department.

Salon: The Personal and Civic Importance of Beauty

The Pattern Shop Studio kicks off its Salon series with a participatory discussion on the personal and civic importance of beauty. In honor of Denver Arts Week, this Salon will be devoted to conversations in the Pattern Shop library about art and beauty involving RiNo artists, art lovers, thinkers and anyone who walks in the door.

Pattern Shop Studio is pleased to host an exhibition of new paintings by resident artist Sharon Bond Brown. This exhibition, Creators, is an homage to Sharon's peers, a comment on the tradition of portraiture and a tour de force of black and white oil painting.

October 23 PSS will host the opening reception from 6 - 9 p.m. with the artist in attendance.

This exhibition continues through December 2009.

PSS Participates in Get to Know RiNo

Get to know RiNo: Third Sundays in May & June. Sponsored by RiNo Neighbors

Geared toward bringing together the neighborhood, 'Get to know RiNo' is a series of Third Sundays in May and June open to the public. Each event will focus on a certain area in the neighborhood, allowing RiNos to explore their neighborhood as well as welcoming the general public to discover what's special about RiNo.

Third Sunday May 17th: RiNo Open Studio Tour & Sunday Brunch- Upper Larimer Side 10am - 3pm. Tour RiNo locations on the East side of the tracks. Light brunch items will be served at each location as well as pancakes served by RiNo Neighbors at the RiNo party tent, located at 32nd and Blake Street, get information on the tour, pick up maps & park here. (Yes, only locations on the Upper Larimer side of the tracks will be open) Third Sunday June 21st (Father's Day): RiNo Open Studio Tour & Sunday Brunch - River North Side 10am - 3pm Tour RiNo locations on the West side of the tracks. Light brunch items will be served at each location as well as pancakes served by RiNo Neighbors at the RiNo party tent, located at 36th and Chestnut Place, get information on the tour, pick up maps & park here. (Yes, only locations on the River North side of the tracks will be open).
