Barbara Shark Continues at the Pattern Shop through May 4

The Pattern Shop Studio’s spring exhibit of figurative painter Barbara Shark’s oil paintings,  About Time, continues on First Friday, April 6th and First Friday May 4th.   An Artist’s Salon will be held on Saturday, April 14th, 4-6pm, which will  also include the official release party for Shark’s newly published memoir, How I Learned To Cook, An Artist's Life. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and the artist will be signing copies.  The Pattern Shop Studio, in the heart of the RiNo Art District, is open seven days a week for groups and individuals by appointment (303-297-9831).

Colorado artist Barbara Shark has built a long and successful practice creating large format, photo-realistic paintings.  Her works capture their subjects outdoors or in animated conversations around the dinner table, doing almost anything, but always actively doing something.  In her pieces, Shark invites the viewer to imagine narratives about what’s going on, the personalities interacting, and what relationships undergird their interactions.  Working both in luscious black and white and in vibrant color, Shark takes everyday life and elevates it to the level of fine art. Spanning the time period from the early 1990’s to the 2010’s, About Time explores the artist’s focus, her skill and her growth as one of the region’s preeminent painters. Click on "Exhibits" to see more examples of her large scale oils.
